WHAT
The project
Over the last three years, Z&S Ceramco has developed a communication project with a name that may sound as a programmatical manifesto: APPARENTLY INVISIBLE. CHEMISTRY IN CERAMICS.
The engine of the project, in a way ambitious, is the sharing of knowledge and experience gained over the years by the Z&S working group, both inside its labs and along the customers’ production lines.
It is an open, horizontal and not academic attempt to provide information, opening a dialogue on issues of common interest. It is basically about ceramic production and the role that chemistry plays in all steps of the production process.
The idea of the project starts from a very easy and somehow ironic statement:
all chemicals involved in ceramics are marked by an odd fate. They are largely in the form of transparent and gelatinous liquids that burn inside the kilns without leaving a visible trace. They evaporate and disappear. That’s it. From this perspective, their use may seem not important or even unnecessary.
However, despite their apparent invisibility, chemicals and Z&S service play a strategic role, that cannot be ignored if you want to properly develop the process and if you need to provide the final product with high-performing technical and aesthetic features.
HOW
Language & Topics
With a simple, sometimes ironic but not trivial language we try to unveil what is behind the scene and that often develops on a microscopic or molecular level.
Following the approach problem – origin – solutions, the challenge is to decode and turn complex issues into easier digestible information, offering food for thought that may come useful in the daily activities. All actions put in place are today developed in several ways and with different levels of complexity (from lessons to quiz, from podcasts to chemistry/ceramics vocabulary) but they are all based on an educational and not unidirectional approach: let’s talk and share ideas.

WHY
Reasons of the project
The production chain of ceramic industry is made up of several important players who, for their role and competence, contribute to making the sector a real excellence. A large and complex puzzle where all pieces must dialogue and fit together correctly. Being a team game, it is always good to share your knowledge and never leave anything to chance, without taking for granted valuable subjects or topics that for someone can still be not completely clear. Z&S Ceramco, in its proper field and with the fundamental help of its target and customers, has decided to reveal the invisible. Or at least to give it more visibility.
