OPTAPIX KG 1000

The products in the OPTAPIX KG range stand out for their degree of polymerization and the viscosity of their aqueous solution.

These additives, in addition to increasing abrasion resistance, can regulate the viscosity of ceramic glaze suspensions and engobes and are used as non-foaming binding agents.

Since CMC is a polyelectrolyte, the low viscosity characterizing some products in the range—composed of short chemical chains—provides not only the usual binding effect but also a deflocculating property.

For CMCs with a medium degree of polymerization (used in other products in the range, such as OPTAPIX KG 50), it is observed that their characteristic electrolytic effect is highly offset by their inherent high viscosity.

In fact, CMCs have a negligible impact on glaze viscosity when added in appropriate amounts.

In general, an increase in the degree of polymerization improves binding properties and the dehydration process—factors that directly influence longer drying times.

The product can be added during the grinding phase or directly in solution.

NOTE

OPTAPIX KG solutions are relatively resistant to degradation. If long-term storage is required, we recommend adding one of our NOVAL range preservatives.
