Oxidation-reduction
In Chemistry, the oxidation reduction process indicates all those chemical reactions in which the oxidation number of atoms changes: that is in all cases where there is a passage of electrons from one chemical species to another.
This kind of reaction can range from a simple redox process (such as carbon oxidation generating carbon dioxide or carbon reduction from hydrogen producing methane) to the more complex oxidation of sugars in the human body, through a series of complicated electron transfer processes.
