Cersaie 2021: images of a fresh start

On September 27th, two years after the last edition, the Bologna fair reopened the doors of the most important exhibition in the world for the ceramic sector: an important opportunity to resume a speech that has never been interrupted.

The current economic situation, although it has partially complicated the processes, has in fact forced the entire sector to reconsider or at least renegotiate practices and certanties: an opportunity to formulate new strategies and evaluate alternative paths, not always or necessarily advantageous.

Zschimmer & Schwarz Ceramco took part in the event raising the stakes with a larger and renewed space: a didactic and immersive gallery where, among others, three challenging topics have been proposed.  Three subjects that have long been the subject of investigation within the Group’s technical labs:

  1. Protection surface treatments
  2. The water-based system: digital inks and digital glues
  3. Ceramic and antibacterial properties

Through images, texts, graphics and videos, the three subjects have taken the form of an articulated yet easy-to-read narrative: a narration that, even in the complexity of the themes, has tried – with an intuitive and linear language – to return the behind the scenes of ceramic production. An essential technical point of view, not only chemical, which is the basis of the well-known technical and aesthetic characteristics of the ceramic material.
