Deflocculant
Substance that, when added to a colloidal system, prevents its flocculation (aggregation), modifying the electrostatic set-up, the solvation or the surface tension of the colloid’s micelles.
The barbottina may contain clay suspensions that tend to produce colloidal systems and flocculation phenomena: deflocculant agents prevent their formation, leading to a fluidifying effect within the slurry.
