They are often used as thickeners for aqueous solutions and are marked by high transparency, elasticity and an important resistance to breakage.<\/p>
They are better known as acrylics and they are widely involved in cosmetic production, usually perfoming as binders.<\/p>
In Ceramics, they are especially used to lower the viscosity of aqueous systems applied along the glazing lines (engobbi, glazes and grits), thus promoting a deflocculating and\/or dispersant effect.<\/p>
This result is obtained by means of an electrostatic action, that is through an "interference" with the electric charges of the suspended solid particles that produces a repulsive effect.<\/p>
