FLOW CURVE

A flow curve is a graphical representation used to describe the rheological behavior of a fluid when subjected to shear. It relates the applied shear stress to the resulting shear rate, providing valuable information about how the material flows.

Flow curves make it possible to determine the apparent viscosity of a system and analyze how it changes under different shear conditions. This allows fluid systems to be characterized and their behavior during processing to be predicted.

In the ceramic industry, flow curve analysis is widely used in the development and quality control of glazes, engobes, inks, and other suspensions. Understanding the rheological properties of these materials helps optimize application processes, improve formulation stability, and contribute to the quality of the final product.
