Water-based glue: validation test

Actions:

#01. Stress test
#02. Support positioning
#03. Setting print command
#04. Print input
#05. Result Retrieval and Analysis

Together with other collateral tests, this sequence of actions is essential for validating the parameters and characteristics of water-based digital glues.
These are preliminary internal tests carried out using head-tester machines capable of reproducing on a small scale what will later occur on the production line. Printing is performed on photo paper, and the suspension is discharged by means of the machine’s only printhead. Once specific parameters are set using the accompanying software, various print tests and analyses are conducted until the desired parameters are achieved. These processes can take days or even weeks of work.

A key aspect to consider is that head testers operate in a vacuum, meaning without air. Once the product is loaded and the machine reaches its operating temperature (since it is thermostated), one of the most critical steps is ensuring the right vacuum level in the circuits and test head. This prevents issues like dripping due to insufficient suction or excessive air intake into the system.
The stress test is used to check how the product performs under extreme high-discharge conditions.
