Ring Tensiometer
Actions:
#01. Cleaning of the ring with water and acetone
#02. Insertion of the ring into the tensiometer
#03. Introduction of the liquid sample
#04. Immersion of the ring into the liquid
#05. Measurement up to the rupture point of the liquid film
The measurement of a liquid’s surface tension can also be performed using analog instrumentation, in this case a ring tensiometer.
The procedure begins with the thorough cleaning of the platinum ring using water and acetone, in order to remove any residues or contaminants that could compromise measurement accuracy.
Once cleaned, the ring is mounted on the tensiometer, and the liquid sample is prepared and placed in the dedicated sample container. The operator then proceeds with immersing the ring into the liquid.
Following the release of the system, the measurement phase begins: the ring is gradually raised while the liquid level is lowered in a controlled manner. The applied force is continuously recorded until the rupture point of the liquid film is reached.
The resulting value represents the surface tension of the sample, a key parameter for liquid characterization and for the assessment of its physico-chemical properties.
